Why the site exists, what's on it, it's aims and how you can help
  • It is my intention to record as many as possible of the written records of the activities of the Aussies and Kiwis who fought in the Great War of 1914 to 1918.
    • This will be mainly (but not limited to) Unit Histories.
  • Collectively they were called "Diggers". The term mainly referred to Australians but at times, particularly in the first 12 months or so, the forces from Australia and NZ were so closely integrated the term sometimes covered both armies.
  • These men, and the women who served as nurses, were part of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. Army clerks, ever on the lookout of an acronym coined A.N.Z.A.C.
  • The word caught on and the proudest name in 2 countries is now

ANZAC

How you can help

  • If you can help by scanning one of the histories (one that's out of Copyright) please

  • If you have a WW1 Digger's diary that you want to share please
